A rockstar among chilies, the ghost pepper (a.k.a. Bhut Jolokia) is easily the most popular super-hot pepper around. With a slightly fruity and citrusy flavor and a slow to build burn, ghost pepper is popular for bringing extreme heat to soups, salsas, marinades, and rubs. Its Scoville heating rating ranges from 855,000 – 1,041,427 Scoville heat units, making it up to 417 times hotter than a jalapeño.
Use caution with ghost pepper powder as this is extreme heat. Like with raw ghost pepper, wear gloves and kitchen goggles when using ground ghost pepper as the pepper can cause extreme chili burn.
