Show off those spices…
We are all for cool ways to show off hot peppers and other spices in the kitchen. After all, they are full of color and texture, and that makes them uniquely fun and beautiful to showcase. But how best to let those spices take center stage? One of our favorites is the magnetic spice rack. These things not only seem to defy gravity (which is always a show-stopper with friends), they also show off the spices like a work of art. A magnetic spice rack can act like a piece of kitchen wall art, providing both beauty and function. That’s cool (or should we say hot?)
Here are three magnetic spice racks that put those spices right at arm’s reach and add flair to your kitchen space all at the same time.
We’ll start with our favorite for flexibility and creativity. This DIY solution has two separate pieces, starting with the spice jar set pictured here. The gold lids are magnetic, so these jars on their own will stick to any metal surface that you already have in your kitchen. That could be anything from your refrigerator to a metal splash guard. If you need a metal backdrop, that’s available too for a little extra. That’s handy if you’re looking to mount the set on a non-metallic surface like a kitchen or dining room wall.
Given the flexibility, you can do some very creative layouts with this spice set. And that’s what makes it so fun. Whether it’s a couple of jars of dried chilies or an entire spice collection from black pepper to Italian seasoning, you can let your imagination loose with the layout.
Looking for something simple and streamlined? You’ll definitely get that modern “less is more” design vibe with a simple six-canister spice rack. Unlike the set above, the bar itself is magnetized, not the lids, so there’s less flexibility. But if all you need is a few spices at the ready or if you’re looking for a unique kitchen decor solution for a small space, you really can’t go wrong with this set. It would look great on a backsplash or the side of a refrigerator. You could even match a few of these racks together to create a spice grid system if you need more functionality.
Finally, here’s a magnetic spice rack that actually gives you the flexibility of magnetic lids with the bonus of a metal backdrop all-in-one. You get twelve canisters with the set, half the quantity of the DIY set above, but at less than half the cost. The big difference is the canister styles. This set uses modern rounded canisters with see-through lids. The DIY set feels a little more rustic, using hexigon-shaped glass canisters with gold lids. That’s a call that your kitchen style and creativity will need to make!
