Smoky sauce…

Blending chipotle peppers in adobo sauce into a thin puree is a terrific way to bring those smoky and earthy tomato flavors to life on sandwiches and pizzas. Really anywhere you’d use a little tomato sauce is an opportunity to use chipotle pepper puree. It also makes a good base for BBQ sauce experimentation.

Use a light hand as chipotles are jalapeños and pack the same heat. Add a little water to the puree if you’d prefer something thinner or you’d like to temper the spiciness some.
